Who is the Pittsburgh Wordsmith?
The creator of Pittsburgh Wordsmith,, grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa and moved to Pittsburgh in 2008 to do a PhD in English at the University of Pittsburgh. After graduating in 2013, Kate requalified as a nonprofit development professional with the help of the Pittsburgh NCJW’s Center for women. In her work at two Pittsburgh nonprofits, she raised public and foundation grants up to $500,000; created and disseminated print and electronic communication pieces; designed ads with Adobe Creative; maintained two websites and built one; scripted and performed an uncharacteristic radio ad; managed a special event or two; and solved numerous problems – stylistic, grammatical, analytic, technological, and visual. Kate is foremost a writer, and she created Pittsburgh Wordsmith to bring her assorted analytic, writing, and editing skills to the non-profit and small business community.
“Without the help of Kate’s talents as researcher and editor I’d still be working on my last book.”
Associate Professor, University of Pittsburgh
